2007 Annual General Meeting

Habitat for Humanity Sudbury District’s AGM is taking place on Monday November 26th, 2007 starting at 6:30pm.

Our meeting this year will be taking place at St-Jean de Brebeuf Curch on the corner of Katheleen and Notre Dame and is wheelchair accessible.

Grand Opening ReStore

Habitat for Humanity Sudbury District’s ReStore is holding our official Grand Opening for the Habitat for Humanity Sudbury District ReStore on Thursday October 25th, 2007 from 10am until closing at 6pm.

Join us at 250 Frood Road and shop for great deals on home improvement items, building materials, appliances and more. Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday 10 am to 6 pm, Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm.

Habitat for Humanity Sudbury District is holding its 2007 Ground Breaking Ceremony on Thursday October 11th.

Take a swing at helping a Sudbury area family have a better life.
Habitat for Humanity Sudbury District invites you to the Cedar Green Golf Club, to participate in our first annual Golf Tournament. Tickets are $80 per golfer, and includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, steak dinner, golf cart and silent a auction.

It takes place on Wednesday September 26 at 11 am. It’s not too late to become a sponsor. Contact Lori Moggy at 690-8307. Stop in at the new Restore location for more details, 250 Frood Road.

Habitat for Humanity Sudbury District is pleased to announce that Rita Richer and her family have been selected as our 2007 build partner family.

Beyond the standard criteria Rita has shown a commitment to improving life for herself and her children.

This new home will be constructed in Val Caron’s Pinecrest Subdivision through the generous donation of property by Dalron Construction Limited.

Habitat for Humanity Sudbury District has a variety of requirements for applicants.

For example:

  • all applicants must have a sustainable income.
  • provide references and complete financial information.
  • commit to investing 500 hours of “sweat equity” into the construction of their home.

Families must demonstrate a clear capacity to honor their financial commitments.

A large part of our success is due to the support Habitat for Humanity Sudbury District receives from its partners The Amazing Persona, Persona Ten NewsBig Daddy, 103.9 New Cap Radio and The Sudbury Real Estate Board.

We would also like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the many businesses, members and volunteers who work hard and donate materials, money and time to help us complete our mission.

Habitat for Humanity Sudbury District is a not-for-profit organization that provides interest free mortgages and helps provide safe, affordable Energy Star compliant homes for qualifying families in the Greater Sudbury Area.

Habitat for Humanity Sudbury District is relocating a third home to be renovated and resold for profit for its fundraising efforts towards our next build.

Sunday May 6th 9am start time.

Habitat for Humanity is very please to announce the generosity of Julie DeSimone at DeSimone Foot & Ankle Centre Inc. Julie has donated her building on Lasalle Blvd to Habitat to support our fundraising efforts. The house will be moved from New Sudbury, Lasalle Blvd. to Radar Road lot 7

The move is made possible thanks to the efforts and donations from these local businesses;
Greater City of Sudbury (Operations), Sudbury Regional Police, Greater Sudbury Hydro Plus Inc., Hydro One, CVRD Inco Limited, The Amazing Persona, Agilis Networks, Bell Telephone, Steel Control and Paramount Construction.

Habitat for Humanity will renovate this home to sell it in hopes to raise funds for Habitats next new home.

Habitat for Humanity Sudbury District Relocating a Second Home to be Renovated and Resold for Fundraising Efforts

Habitat for Humanity will be moving their second house starting at 9 a.m., on Sunday, February 11. The house will be moved from New Sudbury, Lasalle Blvd. to McCrea Heights, MacDonald Street, lot 117.

The move is made possible thanks to the efforts and donations from these local businesses;
City of Greater Sudbury (Steel Controls, Operations), Greater Sudbury Regional Police, Greater Sudbury Hydro Plus Inc., Hydro One, Inco Limited, The Amazing Persona and Total Cable Contracting, Agilis Networks, Bell Telephone, Steel Control, and Paramount Construction.

Habitat for Humanity is an independent, non-profit, housing program dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing by building homes in partnership with families in need. The ministry of Habitat for Humanity is to provide simple, decent, affordable housing to those who would not qualify or be able to afford a conventional mortgage. The Habitat for Humanity program is about home ownership, a long term solution to break the poverty cycle.

Habitat for Humanity will renovate this home to sell it to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity’s next home.
